An interesting article with a hypothesis about the connection between terrorism in Islam and the practice of polygamy (multiple wives).
While I don't agree with the evolutionary framework or the suggestion at the end, the idea that "polygamy creates dysfunctional societies" certainly makes sense to my biblically-informed worldview.
God made marriage for good reason(s!). When you mess with what God made, bad things happen....
If one judges polygamy and Jihad as both being bad, still, one's a lot more destructive than the other.
ReplyDeleteBecause they are both viewed as bad doesn't mean they're connected.
Without reading the article, I'm going to make a prediction: if I were to read it, I'd get the impression that the author was at least somewhat anti-Islam. Somebody making his or her contribution to the "clash of cultures."
I'm against that as much as I am Jihad. Jihad is an expression of the "clash of cultures" mentality.
And Paul,
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of sounding argumentative, what is wrong with being against Islam?
It sounds like you are just against being against something. Huh. How post-modern of you.
Although somewhat unrelated to the current topic, if you would like to hear an excellent assessment of Islam (as a religion of peace, et.)go to the Oct. 26 Issues Etc., the 3rd hour: "President Bush & Islam"
ReplyDeleteThis interview of Dr. Alvin Schmidt
will dispel all such claims of Islam being a religion of peace, etc.
